TENS Units & TENS Machines, Portable

DME-Direct carries a large selection of medical-grade TENS units for clinic and home to help treat chronic muscle conditions and painful nerves. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS device) helps by delivering tiny impulses through electrodes attached to the skin. TENS pain devices reduce pain signals received by the brain from the source of the injury. The brain is thus busy handling all the impulses coming from the TENS machine instead of from where it hurts. When TENS units are set on a low setting (2-5 Hz) it encourages the body to produce endorphines which are the body's own natural pain-easing chemicals which help to block pain signals. TENS machines are very effective at managing musculoskeletal pain (arising from muscles, nerves, and joints) associated with chronic low back pain and arthritis of the knee to name a few. After initially using a TENS unit for a couple of minutes, the tingling sensation will often subside called accommodation. Simply turn the TENS device up slightly to a stronger setting and leave it for the remainder of the 15-20 minute treatment session.

We carry traditional analog TENS machine and newer digital product varieties that feature patient friendly display screens, adjustable settings for optimal treatment, timers, and adjustable pulse rates and pulse widths for effective pain relief. Models vary in price depending on each unit's features, and patient settings. Search this category to find a portable model for your condition.
