Choosing the Right Brace for Your Procedure

Not all surgery recovery protocols are the same. Your brace selection should match your specific procedure:

  • Meniscus Repair: Often requires a locking knee brace post-surgery to prevent weight-bearing in deep flexion.

  • ACL & Ligament Reconstruction: Focuses on a hinged knee brace that allows for early extension (straightening) while protecting against lateral (side-to-side) instability.

  • Knee Replacement (TKR): Typically utilizes a lightweight post-surgery leg brace to assist with early mobility and prevent the knee from "buckling" during initial physical therapy sessions.

Key Features of Clinical Post-Op Braces

  • Telescoping Struts: Most of our professional models (like the Breg T Scope or DonJoy X-ROM) feature push-button length adjustments. This ensures the hinge is perfectly centered on your knee axis, regardless of your height.

  • ROM Hinge Settings: These braces allow for "Drop Lock" settings. You can lock the knee at 0° (full extension) for walking and then unlock it for controlled bending exercises.

  • Non-Slip Padding: To address the common issue of the brace sliding down the leg, our premium models utilize medical-grade silicone or high-friction foam liners to maintain a secure fit throughout the day.
