Optimizing Your Hydrocollator Therapy Workflow

To maintain the longevity of your heating unit and ensure patient safety, follow these industry-standard clinical guidelines:

Maintenance & Bacteria Prevention

To prevent mineral scaling and the "foul odor" associated with stagnant water, we recommend:

  • Water Quality: Use distilled or purified water whenever possible to prevent rust and calcification on the heating element.

  • Cleaning Schedule: Drain and wipe down the interior of the stainless steel tank every two weeks using a 50/50 water-vinegar solution.

  • Temperature Monitoring: Ensure the internal thermometer stays above 160°F to effectively kill bacteria.

Patient Safety: The 6-8 Layer Rule

Because Hydrocollator HotPacs are stored at near-boiling temperatures, they must never be applied directly to the skin.

  1. Terry Covers: Use a dedicated Hydrocollator Terry Cloth Cover for professional insulation.

  2. Towel Barrier: If a terry cover is unavailable, wrap the pack in 6 to 8 layers of dry towels.

  3. Duration: Treatment sessions should last between 15 and 20 minutes for maximum muscle relaxation and improved circulation.

Types of HotPacs for Every Injury

We carry a "size for every need" including:

  • Cervical (Neck) Packs: Contoured specifically for the upper trapezius and cervical spine.

  • Spinal (Oversize) Packs: Designed for full-back coverage and lumbar strains.

  • Standard Packs: Versatile 10" x 12" pads for knees, shoulders, and general use.
