Aircast SP Walker Brace Walking Boot - low rocker sole promotes more natural ambulation for improved mobility while the generous foot base has ample room for dressings without sacrificing comfort. It provides full-shell pneumatic support and compression for patients with foot & ankle injuries. The SP Walker (short pneumatic) is suited for individuals with a shorter leg length/calf circumference that require a short height walker for injury immobilization. The lightweight, trimmable, semi-rigid shell has a pre-inflated anterior aircell and two adjustable aircells located at the malleoli that can be individually inflated for "total contact" fit and secure support.

The Aircast SP Walker is used for recovery from mild to moderate ankle sprains, rehabilitation following bunionectomies, forefoot soft tissue injuries, metatarsal fractures and more.

Aircast SP Walker Brace Walking Boot Features:

  • Low rocker sole offers enhanced comfort and promotes natural ambulation.
  • Wider foot base provides ample room for dressings.
  • Improved ergonomic design for ease-of-use and increased compliance.
  • Engineered for patient comfort while providing superior injury protection and support.
  • Semi-rigid shell has a pre-inflated anterior aircell and two adjustable aircells located at the malleoli (medial and lateral ankle bones) that can be individually inflated using the hand bulb (included) for a "total contact" fit and secure support.
  • Because of the walker's adjustability, changes in limb dimension due to swelling can be adjusted for throughout the healing process while still maintaining stability and immobilization per the physician's protocol.
  • Improved ergonomic short height design for ease-of-use and increased compliance.
  • Available in five sizes to fit every size foot - please read our sizing chart tab above for complete sizing guidelines & fit help.
  • Fits both right or left sides.

Reviews
Boot is extremely comfortable
This boot is extremely comfortable, and I would know, as I have been and will be in a boot for quite awhile. it is so much easier to gain a gentle forward motion with this boot compared to what you can achieve in the typical black one that your podiatrist or foot surgeon gives you from their office. Additionally, my foot surgeon says this style will be better for long-term use, as it causes less wear & tear on my knee & hip joints on that leg. I like having the ability to inflate the insulation with the included tool. It truly enables you to feel more like you are walking on air, which has helped tremendously with comfort on days when I must walk longer distances. If your medical condition is primarily in your foot and/or ankle and your doctor says a shorter boot is adequate, then you may well like the lighter weight this boot provides. Plus, no rubbing or banging on your shin as much as the taller boots!

Saved My Mobility
After I rolled my ankle tripping while going down some stairs, I was on crutches and a kneewalker for a couple weeks before getting the Aircast SP. There were a few times with the kneewalker that I thought I would be going face-first into the ground. The steering system on those is similar to that no longer allowed on children's wagons because - oh, right - it's just too dangerous. Yet we still have it on a mobility device. Occasionally, you have to move around in ways that the kneewalker and crutches don't allow, and these occasional movements were enough to re-injure my ankle twice in the three weeks I was using them. One time, I managed to re-roll the ankle even with the brace my doctor gave me. Another time, I was going down the stairs out of my apartment and hit the heel/ankle just right that, in its weakend, injured state, it bent too far. This was a bad situation, so I purchased the Aircast as soon as I was able to put my full weight on the ankle.

Wow! What an amazing, life-changing difference. Thanks to the Aircast, I am able to walk again. I don't have to ask other people to carry stuff around for me while I worry about getting myself around the room without performing a faceplant into the ground because the floor was a bit uneven and catches a wheel or crutch foot. I am able to walk confidently knowing that if I take a bad step, my foot has some protection before I cause further injury to it.

Thanks to the air ballasts, I am able to keep compression on my ankle when necessary, and give that joint the support it needs when it needs it.

Before the Aircast SP, I was not leaving my apartment any more than I had to. Now, I've been going downtown to resume the work that I do - creating photo, video and written content for the websites I help manage. Sometimes, that can mean a lot of walking. With my Aircast, that's a lot of walking without injuring my foot.

After my X-Rays, my doctor told me in no uncertain terms to treat my sprain like a break. However, they were very good with me using an Aircast. I don't know where I would be without mine. I take that back, I do know. I'd still be stuck at home wearing an inferior brace.

good ankle air cast boot
This ankle air cast boot helped get rid of my swelling and helped me walk better after a sprained my ankle three weeks ago. It didn't affect my mobility either.

Doctor approved - good with it.
It's doctor approved so I'm good with it. I prefer the 2 straps on the SP to the 3 straps on the taller versions. That is why I choose this particular boot. Don't always use the air pump that came with it. My hips tend to hurt from walking around in it all day long so I also got the Evenup to go along with it.

One of the better walking boots out there...
Some boots offer only medial and lateral support but this provides support all the way around the ankle which my surgeon wanted me to have.

Air leaked but got it replaced
The air leaked on my first one - had to keep pumping it back up. Called and got a new replacement overnighted without issues. Can't beat this air cast boot cost!

Worked great for me
Worked great for me, not to mention it also turned out to be $200 cheaper than my insurance company wanted me to pay out of my own pocket at the ortho.

Ran too small
Ran too short for my shoe size - toes were hanging off the end. Had to exchange for the next larger size.

walking boot air cast - great price
$480 at the orthopoedist's office for the same medium size boot. Also had it overnighted for less than $50 from DME-Direct. Now I can buy the replacement liner that goes on the inside too. My ortho doc said he can't even get them for this price.

More supportive than my last boot
I really like this ankle air cast boot because it has more support than many others I've unfortunately tried with my ankle injury past history. I can wear it and walk with more support compared to my last one. The protection is good even on slippery surfaces.

I like the support it gives me
I twisted my ankle 5 years ago and fractured some of the bones on the side of my foot. I saw the doctor and he x-rayed it and told me that there was nothing he could do except put me in this air cast ankle boot. So when I twisted my ankle again last week, I knew right away that I had basically fractured my foot the same way I had previously. Unfortunately I have a high deductible insurance plan with no co-pay so I bought this and saved several hundred dollars - didn't go get an x-ray or see the doctor- bought this boot instead. It;s just like the one I got from the doctor years ago.

Perfect for me
I returned two different walking boots because they just didn't hold my foot properly. My doctor recommended this Aircast SP walker and it worked just as I had hoped for. The air cast walking boot is easy to use and put on. The pneumatic feature inflates and provides the right amount of stability around the sides of the ankle. I wear 8.5 shoe so I bought the medium Aircast.

Not impressed
The walking air cast would not stay inflated and the front plastic piece left a bruise on the front of my shin. The sole for your foot isn't very curved (just flat) so it made it very hard for me to walk in. I ended up returning it to exchange for a different cheaper brace.

Orthopedic doctor approved
After I injured my ankle my primary doctor told me that that my ankle was indeed fractured (stable fracture) and the injury would require a cast and to see an orthopedist as soon as possible. My orthopedic surgeon appointment was scheduled for 4 days later so in the meantime I placed an order for this product and received it in less than 24 hours. The relief from the pain and swelling was absolutely great...much better than my Ace Wrap. When I saw the doctor she told me to keep wearing it and schedule a follow up appointment for two weeks later! Thank you.

Strong Boot and comfortable
I have not had to wear another one so I can't compare but when I put the air in with the pump, this pneumatic walker boot fits comfortably and snug and my foot feels supported inside. The top strap closes around the top to keep your foot and ankle from moving around inside. The liner components also are removable for easy cleaning which is a plus. The boot is comfortable and firm - just what my ankle injury needs to get heal.

Fell apart
Fell apart with just one week of use. I may be overweight but still... an aircast walking boot should still last longer than this.

Works well
Works just like it's supposed to and at a great price. I hope no one has to use one of these for 2 months of rehabilitation like me.

Buy this aircast
It's easy to adjust air pressure in this shorter height pneumatic boot. I'm using this to recover from a torn ligament in my ankle. Works great - stabilizes my ankle while I'm walking. Almost bought a cheaper boot but glad I paid extra to buy an Aircast. Walking around with the air pump in my pocket was not a big inconvenience.

Not a good fit
The foam liner did not come close to fitting all the way around my wide calf. I will not be able to use this walking boot after my upcoming surgery. I am very disappointed.

best product aircast makes
This is now my fifth walking boot, but the first boot made by Aircast. It is well constructed, comfortable and fits my foot well. The sole also has a pattern for traction that helps so that you don't slip when walking outside on wet concrete.

Walking well again
I'm very thankfull that this air boot cast works. I figured out that I had to make the second velcro strap tighter to make it work for me. Otherwise my walker foot would slide around inside. Thankfully with this boot I can walk again with less pain in my heel.

Not enough arch support
Not enough arch support for my foot. Guess that's why the sole is so flat - so it can fit right or left side.

Great Aircast brace
This was a whole lot better than the one we we were prescribed at the doctor's office. This happened to be a replacement boot. After a week of using the other boot, which had a built in pump on the outside of the boot with the hose running down the inside, the hose ended up breaking off. This product aircast is totally different. It comes with a separate pump that is inserted on the outside for pumping up the boot. We just received bill for the one from the doctor;s office - a total of $250+. At $72, this is air cast boot was a great bargain.

Thought I was saving money on Amazon
I originally bought this SP walker last week on Amazon because it was cheaper like so many things. Unfortunately my purchase arrived and clearly showed that it had been used previously. I ended up sending it back because it was obviously NOT new. I called up DME-Direct and they assured me that they sold only new boots so I bought one and it arrived yesterday - clearly new and sealed! Thanks for reassuring me about the quality of your SP walking boot.

Great product and shipping
Perfect replacement for identical SP walker that wore out after 8 years of hard use. Could not be more pleased with entire order in every aspect. So much cheaper than anyone else.

Great product and fast shippng
My daughter has an avulsion fracture in her ankle. After the cast was removed the boot was prescribed for continued support. The fit is great and her foot is comfortable and stable in the walker. The boot was shipped quickly and received without incident. Overall 5 stars all the way around...

Very pleased
After sustaining a stress fracture of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th metatarsal, my ortho gave me a script (not needed) for a short cam walker boot. I immediately went on-line and after viewing many different surgical supply sites, went back to DME Direct. I liked reviews I read on this product but wanted to wear it ASAP. I printed 3 pages showing each walker boot with cost and headed to a surgical supply store. I told the owner what I needed and he reached up and presented me with the Air Cast Walker (I hadn't told him which one - just wanted to see what he would offer me). Knowing that was what I wanted I asked the price which was $140, plus tax (totaling $153, or so). I then told him that I could get the exact same boot on-line for a flat $84.99 - no tax or s&h. He then told me he would discount it 10% - really, BIG DEAL! I thanked him and left. Getting into my car I called DME and placed my order. It arrived 4 days later (from Calif. to NY). I am thrilled with the service and, more importantly, the price. The Aircast SP Walker medium size boot is excellent and I am sooo pleased with this whole experience.

Easy
My foot felt very secure in this. The other foam walkers didn't look so supportive to me, so I got this one and the hard shell pieces seemed to reduce the amount of swelling on my foot.
