Short Description
Donjoy's Sully Shoulder Brace provides stability, immobilization, and controlled range of motion for anterior, multi–directional, inferior, and posterior instabilities, rotator cuff deceleration, shoulder separations, and muscle strains.
The Sully Shoulder Brace is designed to stabilize, assist or restrict movement of the shoulder post–injury and postoperatively. It's ideal for shoulder immobilization and controlled range of motion for anterior, multi-directional, inferior, and posterior instabilities, rotator cuff deceleration, shoulder separations, and muscle strains. The Donjoy Sully Shoulder Brace features perforated, breathable, rubber-like neoprene that grips the skin so the support moves with the athlete. The set of stabilization straps attach with Velcro at any point and in any direction to limit overhead shoulder motion.
The Donjoy Sully Shoulder brace is well suited for football, basketball, wrestling, hockey, and overhead sports. The universal fit allows the brace to be worn on either the left or the right shoulder. Instructions (with pictures) provide easy to follow guidelines for placing the straps in the proper location according to his or her injury. The shoulder support brace is perfect for anterior dislocations, posterior dislocations, and even athletes with multi-directional laxity - it does it all!

How To Fit The Sully Shoulder Brace:
Benefits of Using This Brace
The Sully Shoulder stabilizer helps support and protect the shoulder from further injury and offers additional benefits:
1. Provides Injury Support For Healing
The best way to allow an injury to begin healing is to keep the injury site supported and protected. This is true with a dislocated shoulder and a rotator cuff injury. The support helps quicken the healing process and reduces stress on the muscles and tendons around the injury.
The support helps speed up the recovery process and ensures that the shoulder heals in the correct position. Without the support, you could experience continued pain and a permanent loss of mobility over the long term.
The shoulder brace also provides compression that helps reduce swelling and pain in the shoulder. Compressing the swollen shoulder can help reduce inflammation and allow for earlier shoulder movement. For the brace to be effective, it should have a close fit to provide the needed compression and support to be effective.
2. Improves Circulation
The brace offers compression and keeps the shoulder elevated to improve circulation in your arm and shoulder. Improving circulation enhances the healing process because the cells in your shoulder access essential nutrients and oxygen needed for cell repair and regeneration.
3. Protects Your Skin
The skin of your shoulder has many superficially placed nerve endings. Wearing a shoulder brace helps protect the skin and the underlying tendons from possible knocks and bumps as you move. The Sully Shoulder brace also shields you, preventing further injury.
4. Provides Compression
By compressing your shoulder, the brace enhances the receptors on your skin, sending messages to your brain regarding your shoulder's positioning. Sometimes, after an injury like dislocation or subluxation, the shoulder has a decreased sense of awareness in the affected area. But, compression allows the receptors on your skin to work on behalf of the damaged shoulder or muscle receptors. This helps encourage more normal shoulder movement.
5. Limits the Severity of the Injury
The shoulder brace also helps decrease the extent of the injury by limiting your shoulder's range of motion. Too much movement can cause damage to your shoulder cartilage and ligaments, which can exacerbate the injury.
However, the Sully Shoulder Brace does not immobilize your shoulder fully. The strap placement can be customized to allow you to still move your arm forward and up, out to the side, and behind your back. You can still perform overhead activities as before, but are limited from getting into an "at risk" position for dislocating.
6. Strengthens Your Shoulder
The brace has neoprene straps that offer resistance to your movement and stretching. Every time you move your arm, your shoulder muscles must contract to resist the elasticity of the straps. As you work your muscles, you will keep them from losing strength which can occur from not using your shoulder.
7. Prevents Heat Being Trapped At The Injury
The Sully Shoulder Brace is made of lightweight neoprene to reduce the chance of trapping heat underneath. The material is thin and breathable. The material's lightweight feature makes the brace comfortable to wear during any activity, and makes it easier for sweat to escape from underneath the brace.
Heat retention on your body negatively affects performance and can be uncomfortable for you. People who engage in sports can benefit from this feature. The brace limits heat retention, which makes it easier to continue with your activities.
The Sully Shoulder Brace may be used to treat Posterior Instabilities, Muscle Strains (pectorial etc.), Rotator Cuff Deceleration, Anterior Instabilities, Inferior Instabilities and Multi-Directional .
