Stop suffering from that first-step morning heel pain. The MedSpec Phantom Dorsal Night Splint is a low-profile, medical-grade solution designed to treat Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendonitis by providing a gentle, consistent stretch throughout the night.
Unlike bulky, 'boot-style' posterior splints, the Phantom sits on the dorsum (top) of the foot, leaving the heel exposed and preventing the brace from rubbing against your opposite leg while you sleep. Featuring a moldable aluminum stay and the patented CoolFlex™ breathable material, this splint ensures maximum patient compliance by staying cool and comfortable all night long. Whether you are recovering from a chronic strain or post-surgical tightness, the Phantom's adjustable tensioner provides the precise dorsiflexion needed for recovery.
MedSpec Phantom Dorsal Night Splint Features & Benefits
The Phantom Dorsal Night Splint is engineered to solve the "compliance" problem of traditional night splints. Its unique design sits on the top of the foot, providing a more natural sleeping experience while delivering clinical results.
-
Low-Profile Dorsal Design: Unlike bulky "boot" splints, the Phantom stays on the top of your foot. This prevents the hard shell from rubbing against your other leg and leaves your heel exposed for better temperature regulation.
-
Fully Adjustable Aluminum Stay: Features an internal, padded aluminum stay that can be manually bent. This allows you to customize the exact angle of dorsiflexion (stretch) to match your specific comfort level and therapeutic needs.
-
Breathable CoolFlex™ Material: Constructed with patented CoolFlex™ padding. This material is significantly more breathable than neoprene, reducing moisture and heat buildup so you can wear the splint comfortably through the entire night.
-
Elastic Midfoot Tensioner: An integrated elastic strap is sewn underneath the midfoot to provide an additional "active" stretch to the plantar fascia, accelerating the recovery of the soft tissue.
-
Safe-Tred™ Non-Skid Sole: Equipped with a non-skid material on the bottom of the foot. This provides essential traction and safety for short walks around the house or midnight bathroom trips without needing to remove the brace.
-
Effective Pain Relief: Specifically clinically indicated for the treatment of Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, and Calf Muscle Strains. By preventing the foot from "dropping" during sleep, it eliminates the sharp, stabbing pain felt with the first steps of the morning.
- Available in five sizes: See Size and Fit tab for sizing chart and measurement/fit help.
- Recommended Manufacturer HCPC: L4396
MedSpec Phantom Dorsal Night Splint Indications
The MedSpec Phantom is a physician-recommended solution for patients requiring a consistent, low-load stretch to the soft tissues of the foot and lower leg. It is clinically indicated for the following conditions:
- Plantar Fasciitis: The primary indication; it prevents the plantar fascia from contracting overnight, eliminating the stabbing "first-step" pain in the morning.
- Achilles Tendonitis: Provides a gentle stretch to the Achilles tendon to reduce inflammation and prevent nighttime shortening of the tendon fibers.
- Achilles Tendon Paratenonitis: Helpful in managing inflammation of the tendon's outer sheath by maintaining a neutral foot position.
- Drop Foot (Flaccid Paralysis): Used as a nighttime positioning aid to prevent "Equinus" (permanent downward pointing of the foot) in patients with neurological weakness.
- Post-Surgical Recovery: Often prescribed following foot or ankle surgery to maintain length in the calf muscles and connective tissues during the healing phase.
- Calf Muscle Strains: Provides a static stretch to the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles, aiding in the recovery of Grade 1 or 2 strains.
