Which Version Do I Need?
To get the most out of your Clima-Flex OA, you must select the correct compartment to "offload":
- Medial (Inside) Pain: If your pain is on the inside of your knee (closest to your other leg), choose the Medial model.
- Lateral (Outside) Pain: If your pain is on the outside of your knee, choose the Lateral model.
- Note: This brace is side-specific. Ensure you select the correct leg (Left or Right) in addition to the compartment.
Important Fitting Tips
- The "Medial vs. Lateral" Rule: Sizing is independent of the compartment. Whether you need a Medial (Inside) or Lateral (Outside) offloader, the sizing measurements remain the same.
- Donning the Brace: Use the integrated E-Z Grip handles at the top of the brace to pull it into position. The "hinge" should be centered with your kneecap.
- Adjusting the Tension: Once the brace is on, use the keyless dual-action dials to fine-tune the offloading. You should feel a "shift" in pressure away from the painful side of your joint.
Indications
This brace is clinically indicated for the following conditions:
- Mild to Moderate Unicompartmental Osteoarthritis (OA): The primary use case for relieving "bone-on-bone" pain in either the Medial (inner) or Lateral (outer) side of the knee.
- Meniscus Tear & Meniscal Repairs: Provides joint "offloading" to protect a healing meniscus after a tear or surgical repair, reducing the compressive force on the fibrocartilage.
- Chondral Defects: Indicated for localized areas of cartilage damage (focal lesions) where shifting weight to the "healthy" side of the knee can prevent further degradation.
- Post-Op Cartilage Repair: An essential transition brace following procedures such as Microfracture, OATS, or MACI (Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation). It protects the new cartilage graft during the critical remodeling phase.
- Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD): For patients experiencing "start-up" pain or stiffness that improves with light movement and proper alignment.
