Wonderful healing unit
Great product. The delivery was fast and has greatly reduced the swelling without burning the skin from extreme cold. It was really neat to leave the cold pad in place without stopping every 30 minutes like with an ice pad.

Q&A for Ossur Cold Rush Compact Cold Therapy System

  • From Brenda
    • Q: Does this make a lot of noise? I'm looking for a machine that I can use at home and at work after surgery so it can't be a nuisance to people around me.
    • A: The Cold Rush Compact is very quiet (whisper quiet) and will be perfect for use at your office setting.

  • From Tom Rathman
    • Q: What's the biggest difference between the Cold Rush and the Cold Rush Compact?
    • A: The Cold Rush compact has a smaller size cooler (stays cold for about 5-7 hours) and a less robust pump compared to the standard Cold Rush. Both devices have the same fittings on the end of the cooler hose and both use the same pads. The Compact is more of an affordable "economy" version of the larger Cold Rush.

  • From Georgina Michaels
    • Q: Will I be able to sleep with this on?
    • A: Yes, it's very quite. You'll get a good night sleep while having it connected after surgery. The motor makes a soft humming sound that's not intrusive.

  • From Antonio Peterson
    • Q: I've heard people say to use frozen water bottles but my system is not getting cold and I'm currently using this method. What's wrong?
    • A: Frozen water bottles displace water that would normally be pumped through the hose to the pad, and back into the cooler again. Without this volume of water the pump remains warm and not as much cold water is circulated out to the pad. For best results, fill up the cooler with lots of ice cubes (only) up to the fill line and then add water, and you'll feel plenty of coldness out at the pad.

  • From Brent James
    • Q: Does this model have the ability to adjust the speed of the pump to make it colder or warmer?
    • A: It's a single speed pump design so you do not have the ability to control the temperature of the pad.
    • So far persons found this question helpful

  • From Tito
    • Q: Is this purchase warranteed?
    • A: Purchases through a marketplace are not warrantied because the manufacturer cannot tell if the same device has been used and returned multiple times which is an all to common occurrence with third-party marketplace sites. The Cold Rush Compact is labeled as "single patient use" and the device's 6 month warranty cannot be verified with any kind of accuracy through an Amazon purchase because of the fact these units are able to be returned through Amazon's lenient return policy.

  • From Jenny
    • Q: What is the length of the hose and can I put it on the floor?
    • A: The hose measures approximately 5 feet in length - plenty long enough for use on an ankle, hip, knee, or shoulder. You can place the cooler on the floor although we would suggest putting it in the bed or on the couch next to you or even on a table so as to reduce the amount of strain on the pump itself. As with all cold therapy machines, the part that eventually breaks down in these devices is the actual pump, so if you can reduce the amount of strain on the system by having it not have to pump uphill, then this will help increase the lifespan of the product.
