The Donjoy UltraSling III ER by Dj Orthopedics is used after initial anterior shoulder dislocation or post operatively when external rotation is desired. Normally, the anterior part of the capsule hangs loosely during internal rotation and the labrum is able to displace medially. When using this Dj Ortho specialized arm sling in external rotation, the subscapularis tendon tightens thus closing the anterior joint cavity and helping the labrum maintain a good position on the glenoid rim. The Donjoy UltraSling III ER offers excellent shoulder support following shoulder surgery where the surgeon's protocol requires the shoulder to be placed in neutral external rotation.
