Cryo Cuff
Cryo Cuff products from Aircast are the oldest and most widely used cold therapy deivices for the past 20 years. The brand has been reommended by surgeons for post-op recovery and feature a simple yet reliable design. The Cryo Cuff is a fully insulated device that keeps both ice and water cold for hours, and provides local compression to reduce swelling and pain. The three quart container features an easy to use handle for easy carrying and can be used at home, inside the operating room, and on the sidelines of any athletic event.
The Cryo Cuff is a manualy-operated system and is very easy to use. Simply attach the hose to the container and fill with both ice and cold water. Attach any Cryo Cuff pad for the body part being treated, and raise the cooler to let cold water fill the cuff. By raising it even higher, more water fills the pad to apply even greater compression. When the water warms up, simply lift up on the air valve located on top of the lid and lower the device below the level of the body part to draw the water back into the jug to get cold again. The process is repeated as neccessary for optimal treatment.
Cryo Cuff devices are one of the most effective means of treating post surgical pain and swelling. Much reseach has been published on its efficacy including Shelbourne KD, et al. Postoperative Cryotherapy for the Knee in ACl Reconstructive Surgery. Orthapaedics International Edition 2:2, March/April 1994 which showed that patients who used the Cryo Cuff after surgery required less oral and injectable pain medications compared to patients who used crushed ice like that found in the form of a bag of ice. Patients also had less post-op swelling, regained joint range of motion faster, and demonstrated a faster return to their previous level of activity (Schroder, D., Passler HH. Combination of cold and compression after knee surgery. Knee Surg, Sports Traumatol, Arthroscopy 93: 1-8, 1994). It should be apparent the role that the Cryo Cuff can play in helping people return to exercise or to sustain an exercise plan when both minor and major injuries occur. The Cryo Cuff plays a significant role in recovery after orthopedic surgery and is more effective than using ice alone. Each device is shipped factory sealed with the appropriate pad and can be set up for use in minutes. Choose the model appropriate below for the body part being treated.
