Model: Aircast AirLift Aircast AirLift Aircast AirLift PTTD Aircast AirLift PTTD Brace AirLift
The Aircast AirLift is a specially designed brace for helping treat symptoms of posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD), posterior tibial tendonitis, which reduces the ability of the arch to absorb and transfer body weight effectively during walking activities. The Aircast AirLift brace works differently than a pair of insoles. This brace provides effective treatment by supporting underneath the sole with an adjustable air pillow along with a low profile stirrup ankle brace to provide both foot and ankle stability. The brace is used to help stabilize the posterior tibial tendon thus helping prevent its gradual degeneration, or it can be used following surgery, or during rehabilitation afterwards. Unlike typical insoles and orthotics, the Aircast AirLift brace treats PTTD pain by using a low profile stirrup ankle brace, in addition to the air bladder system, to control motion at the ankle joint which can help reduce pronation and its effects on PTTD symptoms.
The Aircast AirLift PTTD integrated aircell, located underneath, is adjustable using the Hand Bulb (included with the brace). When inflated, the aircell can accommodate different heights and comfortably lifts underneath to achieve a more natural foot position to help provide posterior tibial (PTTD) relief. For ease-of-use, aircell inflation can be adjusted while wearing any shoe. The semi-rigid shells are anatomically designed to provide propper stabilization at the joint. The AirLift's shells help effectively realign the ankle in any walking or running shoe.
The Aircast AirLift is designed for easy application and adjustment. The PTTD brace uses an innovative rear entry design which allows the patient to slip into the brace from the back. Two straps secure the AirLift brace and can be used to adjust the fit. These patient-friendly design elements make the Aircast PTTD brace easier to apply than custom braces, eliminate time consuming lacing, and help provide more comfort.

What Is Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction ("Aquired FlatFoot"):
Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD) is an inflammation and/or overstretching of the posterior tibial tendon. Its function is to help support the arch. But in PTTD, it's unable to perform that job efficiently, often resulting in flattening out under the sole.
This fibrous cord extends down from a muscle in the leg. It descends the down the lower leg and runs along the inside of the ankle and then down the side of the inside aspect of the foot.. It is one of the most important supporting structures and helps displace weight properly while walking.
PTTD is often called “adult-acquired flatfoot” because it is the most common type of condition usually developed during adulthood. This condition typically occurs in only one foot, but some people can develop it in both. PTTD is considered a progressive condition, which means it will keep getting worse—especially if not treated early by a medical professional.
