Sorin Siegler, Ph.D., and Wen Liu, M.S., both of Drexel University, conducted a Heel Pain Study to test the effectiveness of the Active Ankle Brace. They found that the net force transmitted through the heel while standing or walking was reduced when patients wore the brace. It was concluded that the U-shaped design of the brace was instrumental for force attenuation during heel strike.
